The shiny, tangerine facade is very hard to miss. On the inside, guests will be pleased to find beautiful hardwood floors and modern furniture that feels a bit like 'IKEA meets Thailand'. There's complimentary wi-fi throughout and each room's lavatory sparkles with a different primary colour (we liked the vibrant, radioactive lettuce colour the most). Highly recommended

A-C Araya,15/1 Chomsin Rd,T032-531130, www.araya-residence.com. With enough comtemporary design and art to add to the 'cool' factor,the rooms are comfy and spacious. The best (and priciest) are the 2 rooftop 'villas',which come with huge, private roof terrace,flatscreen TV,DVD players, fridge and Wi-Fi. Highly recommended
